PROJECT INFORMATION
SR-224 BRT (High Valley Transit Project)

Project Overview
The bus rapid transit (BRT) project will construct dedicated bus and mixed-flow lanes from Kimball Junction to Old Town to provide frequent, fast, and reliable transit service along SR-224.

Jeremy Ranch Bridges Reconstruction

Project Overview
UDOT will replace the eastbound and westbound I-80 bridges at the Jeremy Ranch interchange in Summit County. The goal of this project is to replace aging infrastructure and provide a smoother ride for drivers. These bridges are key travel routes that will require innovative approaches to minimize user impacts during construction.
Both bridges will be replaced using the Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) method. This means that the new bridges will be built next to the existing freeway and then slid into place after their construction is completed. This project will require short-term closures of I-80 and Homestead Road but will reduce long-term traffic impacts overall.
Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2026 and continue through late 2027.

U.S. Route 40 Study

Project Overview
UDOT is conducting two studies in the Summit County and Wasatch County areas — the Phoston Spur & Rail Trail Study and the U.S. Route 40 Corridor Study. Due to the proximity of the study areas, the two study teams are working together to provide information to the public.
The goals of Phoston Spur & Rail Trail Study will be to:
- Improve multimodal, regional, and transportation connections across the state.
- Connect people to recreational opportunities and destinations.
- Obtain public input on alternatives.
The goals of U.S. Route 40 Corridor Study will be to:
- Identify and analyze potential solutions to manage and mitigate future transportation demand on U.S. Route 40.
- Coordinate with local agencies on multimodal connections around or across the corridor.
- Obtain public input on proposed solutions.

SR-224: Marsac Roundabout to SR-248 Improved

Project Overview
The SR-224: Marsac Roundabout to SR-248 project is a pavement preservation effort aimed at improving roadway conditions while enhancing safety and accessibility. As part of this project, sidewalk crossings will be upgraded to meet ADA standards, ensuring safer and more convenient travel for pedestrians of all abilities. Additional improvements will focus on enhancing pedestrian infrastructure and maintaining the long-term durability of the roadway. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with ongoing coordination between UDOT, local agencies, and the community to minimize disruptions and keep the public moving.

Re-create 248 Study (Park City Municipal/UDOT)

Project Overview
The Re-create 248 transit study builds upon past studies that explored various transportation modes, including bus lanes and high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes for the corridor. The study will integrate past findings with the broader short-range transit plan and Park City's park-and-ride strategy to determine transit-forward solutions to move people.
Goals:
- Exploring alternative transportation solutions
- Balancing regional travel needs
- Promoting public transportation and park-and-ride facilities
- Using data to inform decision-making
- Improving quality of life for residents
The preliminary study is slated to be completed by January 2026, followed by the environmental study and preliminary design phase.

Kimball Junction Environmental Impact Statement

Project Overview
UDOT has completed an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to improve regional and local mobility at the I-80 and SR-224 interchange at Kimball Junction and on SR-224 from Kimball Junction through the Olympic Parkway intersection in Summit County, Utah.
After evaluating the information in the Draft EIS, the project file, and public and agency input to date, UDOT has identified Alternative C: Intersection Improvements with Pedestrian Enhancements as the selected alternative in the Final EIS and Record of Decision.
After all project approvals and permits are received, UDOT can move toward implementing the selected alternative, which includes final design and construction.
